NY Times, Sat 11/20/10 reports that a common pain killer drug propoxyphene , sold under the Darvon and Darvocet brands which has been proven unsafe for use for 32 years and is finally being pulled from the market. It was the most prescribed drug last year for 17.5 million people. According to the research, the painkiller is addictive, had little effect on pain and caused many deaths due to serious heart complications. It was banned in 2005 in Britain and 2009 in the E.U based on reports of unusual amount of associated deaths in Florida. Before take another pill, consider the following alternative therapies to pain management such as Acupuncture, Massage, Chiropractic care, Yoga, Weight loss. Herbs and Nutraceuticals such as Bromelain, Comfrey , Willow Bark are noted to be helpful.
